ISO-Certification-for-Aramco-Vendor Registration

ISO certification can strengthen an Aramco vendor application, but it doesn’t replace Aramco’s own registration steps. Aramco’s supplier guidance has asked manufacturers of inspectable materials for an ISO 9001 certificate, and other standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 may matter for your products and contract. ISO certification alone doesn’t guarantee registration, qualification or contracts.

If you’re here to supply Aramco, the short version is this: ISO certification can support your application, but Aramco registers every supplier through its own e-Marketplace, and the requirements depend on what you supply and where you’re based. The sections below explain where ISO fits, which standards may matter, how Aramco’s separate cybersecurity certificate works, and how to prepare. We’re an ISO consultancy, so we’ll be clear about our role: we help you prepare for ISO certification, but we can’t register you with Aramco or guarantee approval.

How Aramco Supplier Registration Works

Every company that supplies goods or services to Aramco has to be registered. How you register depends on where your company is based and what you supply, whether you’re a material vendor, a manufacturer or a service provider, according to Aramco’s Become a Supplier page.

You’ll often hear this called becoming an “approved vendor”. Aramco’s own pages use the terms registration and qualification, so use those when you search its guidance.

Here’s the general route:

  1. Work out your supplier type and location. Saudi-based companies register through the in-Kingdom link on Aramco’s page. Aramco’s 2020 Material Supplier Guide says its Dhahran headquarters also registers companies in neighboring countries, including the GCC, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt and Kenya. Other international suppliers follow a separate route described in Aramco’s Supplier Registration Technical Guide. Because country routing can change, confirm the current route on Aramco’s supplier pages before applying.
  2. Register on Aramco’s e-Marketplace. Aramco says any company interested in doing business with it must register through this platform. The 2020 guide adds that bidding is moving onto it through SAP Ariba.
  3. Provide the documents for your category. An older Aramco supplier guide asks manufacturers of inspectable materials for an ISO 9001 certificate and a completed Manufacturing Plant Evaluation Questionnaire. The 2020 guide adds that vendors who supply but don’t manufacture don’t go through the inspection process most manufacturers do. Document requirements can vary by location and supplier category, so check Aramco’s current instructions for the full list that applies to your company.
  4. Complete the cybersecurity requirement. Aramco says third parties must obtain its Cybersecurity Compliance Certificate to do business with it. The registration route and requirements differ by supplier location, so check the applicable instructions for your company. More details appear below.
  5. Check the iktva requirements. Aramco describes its In-Kingdom Total Value Add (iktva) program as a way to develop local supply-chain value and efficiency in Saudi Arabia. Its 2020 Material Supplier Guide says participation is required for doing business with Aramco, but current requirements should be confirmed for your supplier category and contract. Review Aramco’s iktva page to determine whether a baseline survey, action plan or other requirement applies.
  6. Qualify and bid. Registration and qualification are separate steps, and registration doesn’t guarantee any business.

Two practical points. Aramco says registration is free, and it asks you to report any third party that asks for a fee to its General Auditor Hotline (Aramco’s statement). For questions about your registration, Aramco’s Supplier Help Desk is the right contact ([email protected]).

Some of these details come from older editions of Aramco’s guides, which we checked together with Aramco’s current pages in October 2026. Requirements change, so confirm them with Aramco before you apply.

ISO certification shows you run a documented system that an independent body has audited. In Aramco’s published guidance, the clearest ISO requirement is for manufacturers of inspectable materials. For other categories, which ISO certificates matter depends on your category, what you supply and the buyer’s own questionnaire.

It also helps after you register. Aramco measures supplier performance on things like on-time delivery, claims for quality or quantity deviations, and safety. A working management system, with corrective action and regular reviews, is the kind of discipline that supports those results.

What ISO doesn’t do: it doesn’t replace Aramco’s registration, qualification, cybersecurity or applicable iktva steps, and it doesn’t guarantee approval.

Which ISO Standards Can Support Aramco Vendor Registration?

The right standard depends on what you supply and what Aramco, or the buyer you’re dealing with, asks for. None of these is a universal registration requirement. For sector context, see our page on ISO certification for oil and gas businesses.

Standard

What it shows

When it may matter

ISO 9001

A quality management system

Manufacturers, material suppliers and service providers that need to show consistent processes, quality control and corrective action. An older Aramco supplier guide asks manufacturers of inspectable materials for an ISO 9001 certificate.

ISO 14001

An environmental management system

Work with significant environmental impacts, such as waste, emissions, chemicals and resource use.

ISO 45001

An occupational health and safety management system

Contractors and suppliers working on industrial sites or in higher-risk environments.

ISO 50001

An energy management system

Energy-intensive suppliers, or where a buyer asks about energy performance.

ISO/IEC 27001

An information security management system

Suppliers handling sensitive information or providing IT services. It is not the same as Aramco’s CCC.

Aramco CCC

Compliance with Aramco’s Third Party Cybersecurity Standard

Aramco says third parties must obtain it to do business with Aramco. The applicable process, classification and certificate type should be confirmed through Aramco’s current CCC guidance.

An ISO certificate shows conformity to a standard within its certified scope. The Aramco CCC is a separate process with its own classification, assessment and issuing body.

ISO Certification vs the Aramco Cybersecurity Compliance Certificate (CCC)

The Cybersecurity Compliance Certificate is Aramco’s own program for third-party cybersecurity. It checks you against Aramco’s Third Party Cybersecurity Standard, not against ISO/IEC 27001. An Aramco-authorized audit firm carries out the assessment and issues the certificate. There are two types, CCC and CCC+, depending on how your company is classified, and CCC+ involves an on-site assessment.

The CCC program page contains inconsistent wording about the Network Connectivity classification and its assessment requirements. Confirm your classification and whether CCC or CCC+ applies with Aramco or its CCC team before arranging an assessment.

If you hold ISO/IEC 27001, that shows you run an information security management system. It doesn’t replace the CCC. See Aramco’s CCC program page for the current steps, the standard’s current edition and the list of authorized audit firms. To understand ISO/IEC 27001 itself, read our guide to ISMS in ISO 27001.

How to Prepare Before You Apply

Step

What to do

1. Confirm your category and location

Identify whether you’re a manufacturer, material vendor or service provider, and whether you’re registering in-Kingdom or internationally.

2. Read Aramco’s current guidance

Start with the Become a Supplier page and the Supplier Registration Technical Guide.

3. Check the buyer’s requirements

Prequalification questionnaires and tender documents often name the standards they want.

4. Choose standards by scope

Choose ISO 9001 where your supplier category or buyer’s requirements call for it. Consider ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 where environmental or occupational health and safety risks make them relevant.

5. Check the certificate scope

It should cover the products, services and sites you’re registering.

6. Choose an accredited certification body

Ask the buyer whether it accepts that body. Accreditation bodies assess certification bodies under ISO/IEC 17011.

7. Start the CCC and check iktva separately

Ask Aramco about your CCC classification and applicable assessment. Check whether iktva requirements apply to your category or contract.

8. Plan the time

Gap assessment, implementation, internal audit and the certification audit take time. See how long ISO certification takes.

What is ISO Certification?

The International Organization for Standardization is an organization that develops a wide range of standards applicable to both technical and non-technical fields, such as manufacturing, food safety, transportation, and more. ISO standards play a critical role in supporting businesses and industries in Saudi Arabia, particularly as the country has experienced significant industrial growth in recent years under Vision 2030. These standards are essential for ensuring that organizations meet international requirements, fostering quality, consistency, and global competitiveness. ISO develops the standards, but it doesn’t issue certificates. Independent certification bodies do.

Importance of ISO certification for ARAMCO

Aramco is one of the world’s largest energy companies. Aramco upholds many standards like quality, safety, and sustainability. Few organizations have played a more pivotal role in Saudi Arabia’s quest for industrial transformation and global competition than ARAMCO, one of the world’s largest oil companies. ARAMCO, as a leader in innovation and operational excellence, relies heavily upon globally recognized standards for its competitive edge. ISO certification Saudi Arabia is a key component of these efforts not only within ARAMCO, but also across the entire industrial landscape. This blog examines the role ISO standards play in ARAMCO’s successes, Saudi Arabia Vision 2030, and the industrial ecosystem of the Kingdom.

How ISO Standards Relate to Aramco’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Expectations

Aramco expects suppliers to prevent incidents, control occupational injuries and illnesses, and limit damage to property and the environment. It also looks for high quality standards and on-time delivery. These ISO standards are the ones suppliers most often use to show they manage those areas.

  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Shows a documented quality system with consistent processes, continual improvement and corrective action. It’s often requested in energy supply chains. Oil and gas suppliers can also read our guide to how ISO 29001 enhances quality, the sector-specific standard for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.

  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems

Shows how you manage environmental impacts such as waste, emissions and resource use. It’s relevant where your work affects the environment, for example chemicals, waste handling or heavy industrial processes.

  • ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety

Shows how you manage workplace health and safety risks. It’s relevant for contractors and suppliers working on industrial sites or in higher-risk environments.

  • ISO 27001 Information Security Management

Shows you manage information security systematically. It’s separate from Aramco’s Cybersecurity Compliance Certificate (see above). Read more in our guide to ISMS in ISO 27001.

  • ISO 50001: Energy Management Systems

Shows how you manage and improve energy performance. It can matter for energy-intensive suppliers, or where a buyer asks about energy efficiency.
